I have a 136" drive belt on a Woods finish mower. How do I replace the belt. Is there anywhere on the web that will explain it?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Go to www.woodsonline.com, then go to the turf and landscape, then to manuals. They have PDF manuals that you can print out for your particular mower and it should answer all of your questions on the belt replacement. Clyde

There is an easy way. Take the covers off the pulleys. Now grab the belt and pull the idler so that you have lots of slack. Slip the belt off the pulley behind you that the belt is loose on. To install the new belt. Wrap the belt around all the pulleys except the one nearest the idler behind the way you are going to pull the idler. Just pull the belt so the idler gives and slip the belt over the other pulley. I change mine every year by myself this way.

Clyde, thanks for the info about the manuels for the Woods mower. I have already printed the pages I need to put on a new belt. I will go back and try again but my problem is getting the belt under drive pulley A because of the idler arm pivot does not allowing room between the pulley and the idler arm. Thanks, Johnny

I have an older woods that ahs the diagram on the cover. It's the one with the large wheel instead of a gearbox. That belt has a half dozen or so twists in it. I've never had to change it yet.

That's good, I have to change once a year on the RM48. I'd be lost without that decal.

We have a woods 306 rear finishing mower. We have had nothing but trouble with it, we bought it used but seemed to be be in good shape. The belt has broken twice in 5 hrs. Of use not sure what we need to do, other than find something else. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Are you hitting anything when it breaks? I have a 24 year old Woods RFM at work, and it never broke belts unless you hit a big root or something. Other than that, I would check to make sure all your pulleys turn freely.
And welcome to the forum.

Have you inspected all the shafts and pulleys for anything not spinning true? As Larro asked, will the spindles all spin freely when the belt is off? If a spindle doesn't spin free or has some wobble as it spins, that would likely be the issue.

Welcome to TBN. To get best response next time you have a question post it in a new thread so people will see it.
Meantime, it seems you may well have a bad spindle bearing or similar, like a bent pulley, or something causing the belt to break in that short timeframe.
once you figure out what it is post the answer for others to see.
