JAMES W. BARRICK
James William “Jim” Barrick, 73, of Duncannon, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024, at home.
He was born Aug. 14, 1950, in Newport to the late Walter and Peggy (Sharar) Barrick.
He worked as a contract specialist for the Department of Defense. He served his country honorably during the Vietnam War with the Army, where he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 Device, and the Vietnam Service Medal W/2 stars. He was very proud of his accomplishments and to serve the United States of America.
Aside from being a second-degree black belt in taekwondo, he loved the outdoors. He especially enjoyed going to hunting camp with his buddies and traveling with his beautiful wife. He was an avid reader, loved antique cars, and absolutely loved his granddaughters. He cherished their time together playing Clue and taking them deer spotting. He treasured his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Rebecca Barrick; two sons, Matthew Barrick of Carlisle and Marc Barrick of Marysville; two granddaughters, Rylee and Rosalee; a sister, Deborah Lukens; and a brother, Chuck Barrick.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel Barrick and Rick Barrick.
A service was held July 25 in Ronald C.L. Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon. Interment, with military honors, was in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

RAYMOND J. JANDREAU
Raymond J. Jandreau, 76, formerly of Loysville, passed away in Geisinger Lewistown Hospital on Thursday, July 18, 2024.
He was born Feb. 18, 1948, in Negaunee, Mich., to the late William J. and Rose Adrian (Steede) Jandreau.
He enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved skiing, fishing, hunting and listening to music. He worked as a dishwasher and retired from Centre Hills Country Club in State College.
Surviving are three children, Deborah Jandreau and Raymond Jandreau, both possibly of Bismarck, N.D., and Bridy Deihl of Loysville; three stepchildren, Sharon Fulk of Erie, Joseph McLaughlin of Loysville and James McLaughlin of Shermans Dale; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Judy Emanulson of Negaunee.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Joycelyn (Sansbury) Jandreau; a daughter, Tammy Case, who died in 2004; and five brothers and one sister.

JAMES E. MEAS
James E. Meas, 66, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2024, at his home in Newport.
He was born Aug. 12, 1957, in Harrisburg to the late Edith (Celesky) and Donald Meas Sr.
He was a member of Newport Social Order of Owls, Newport and New Bloomfield VFWs and Hunters Valley Sportsmen Association; employed at Feeser’s Food Distributor, Harrisburg; and enjoyed spending spare time at poolside with family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Debra (Hanzel) Meas; two daughters, Jamie (Keefer) Boyer (Richard) of Enola and Edie (Keefer) Ruoss (James) of Elliottsburg; two brothers, Ronald Meas of Duncannon and David Meas (Tim) of Camp Hill; two sisters, Darlene Meas of Duncannon and Cindy Wright of Newport; 11 grandchildren, Dustin, Timberly, Ricki, Sarah, Ginny, Nick, Cody, Morgan, Connor, T.J. and Sadie; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa (Keefer) Smith; a brother, Donald Meas Jr.; and two grandsons, Derek and Daren Dilodovico.
A service was held July 27 in David Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with Josiah Parker officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.
REV. HUGO W. SCHROEDER JR.
Rev. Hugo W. Schroeder Jr., 87, of Liverpool journeyed to be with his Lord and Saviour on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at home.
He was born on May 24, 1937, in York to Hugo W. Sr. and Florence (Smith) Schroeder.
He graduated from City College of Baltimore High School and Gettysburg College, and earned a bachelor of divinity from Gettysburg Seminary.
He served as pastor of Bittinger Lutheran Parrish, Trinity Lutheran Church (assistant pastor), Bethany Lutheran Church, Messiah Lutheran Church, St. Matthews Lutheran Church (Bloomsburg), St. Johns Lutheran Church (Albany, N.Y.), St. Matthews Lutheran Church (Centerville), and retired from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Middlecreek.
He was an ardent backpacker — hobby that was near and dear to him.
Surviving are his loving wife of more than 64 years, Evelyn (Stough) Schroeder; a son, Hugo W. Schroeder III; a daughter, Sue Pennay and her husband Jeff; eight grandchildren, Emiline Lyell and her husband Matthew, Hugo W. Schroeder IV, Doraleen Schroeder, Martin Schroeder, Alex Pennay, Curtis Pennay and his companion Hannah Doll, and Sarah Pennay; two great-grandchildren, Hudson Lyell and Reuben Lyell; two siblings, Martin Schroeder and his wife Janet and Clara (Beebe) James; brother-in-law, John Geldmacher; numerous nieces and nephews; and his furbaby, Becky.
He was preceded in death by two siblings, Carl Schroeder and his wife Jane and Karla Geldmacher; and brother-in-law, Charles James.
A service was held July 19 in Sharon Lutheran Church, Selinsgrove.

CHARLES L. HUSS
Charles L. Huss, 89, of Duncannon entered eternal rest on Thursday, July 11, 2024.
He was born Sept. 4, 1934, to William and Evelyn Huss.
He was a retired PP&L lineman and truck driver. During retirement, he enjoyed watching his favorite sport, professional wrestling. He also took care of his many cats that just wandered onto his property, as he never turned one away that needed food and attention. He also enjoyed collecting Hess trucks.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Nancy E. (Heffley) Huss of Duncannon; two sons, Donald L. Huss of Landisburg and Thomas E. Huss (Kathy) of Newport; a daughter, Sharon L. (Huss) Miske (Michael) of Newport; nine grandchildren, Samantha, Ashley, Christina, Justin, Matthew, Ryan, Leann, Charles (KC) and Leah; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Houck of Marysville.
He was preceded in death by three children, Ronald C. Huss, Linda (Huss) Howell and Charles “Chuck” Huss, all of Duncannon; and a great-granddaughter, Aleisha Howell.
A service was held July 22 in David Myers Funeral Home, Newport.

THOM E. CASEY
Thom E. Casey, 61, of Duncannon passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at home.
He was born on Jan. 3, 1963, in Camp Lejeune, N.C., to the late Wayne E. and Joyce (Auxt) Casey.
He was a Coast Guard veteran; employed as an inventory control specialist with Schaedler Yesco; a member of Duncannon American Legion Post 340; enjoyed fishing, camping and being outdoors, cooking and grilling, and especially spending time with his family and grandchildren, and was a Philadelphia Eagles fan.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas E. Casey (Jack) of Harrisburg and Jacob L. Casey (Siera) of South Williamsport; a sister, Mary M.C. Stees of Duncannon; two grandchildren, Lyla Casey and Silas Rupp; niece, Sara (Andy) Blascovich of Harrisburg; uncle, Samuel A. Auxt of Duncannon; a brother, Jon E. (Deb) Casey; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jeffry Stees, and aunt, Marian Auxt.
A service was held July 19 in Ronald C.L. Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Duncannon.

MARY G. WILLIAMS
Mary G. Williams, 92, of Middleburg went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Evangelical Community Hospital.
She was born on April 1, 1932, in Juniata County to Orpha (Goodling) and Paul H. Chubb.
She attended Quaker Run School and Laurel Hill School in Juniata County.
She was a seamstress who worked at Glasco Limited in Lansdale and New Bloomfield Dress Factory in Newport.
She was a member of Aline United Methodist Church, where for many years she enjoyed activities of the Willing Workers Class and Bible Study. Even while suffering with dementia in her later years, she often reminded others of how much Jesus loves us.
During retirement, she enjoyed flower gardening, visiting with grandchildren, and baking for family members. She was noted for her delicious banana bread and chocolate cake with peanut butter icing.
She was the widow of Louis V. Williams, whom she married Jan. 7, 1984.
Surviving are a daughter, Diane; two grandchildren, Kathi G. Knouse and her husband Dan and Dale R. Spigelmyer and his wife Maureen; eight great-grandchildren, Lily, Maya and Riley Spigelmyer, and Katelyn, Dayton, Delaney, Kimber and Della Knouse; a brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Janice Chubb; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie Lou Sheeder; a brother, Paul H. Chubb Jr.; and a son-in-law, Larry E. Spigelmyer.

AUDREY I. HITE
Audrey Irene Hite, 97, of Marysville passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Harmony at West Shore, Mechanicsburg.
She was born Tuesday, March 8, 1927, in Marysville to Charles and Anna (Backus) Wagner.
A homemaker for most of her life, she also worked as an administrative assistant for the Pennsylvania Boroughs Association. She was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church, Duncannon, where she was the church organist and active in the Sunday school program.
She was the widow of Raymond S. Hite, who died Friday, Feb. 5, 1993.
Surviving are a daughter, Trudy E. Hite of Edenton, N.C.; two sons, R. Keith Hite, married to Linda, of Enola and Gregory A. Hite, married to Carol, of Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren, Marcus Hite, Tara Abuhl, Jacob Yingling and Zachary Yingling; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and caring friends.
She was preceded in death by her 5-year-old son, David R. Hite.
A graveside service was held July 20 in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Marysville, with pastor Jennifer L. Toburen officiating.

DONALD L. SARVER
Donald Lee Sarver was born Sept. 21, 1935, in Newport to Alvin and Louise Britcher Sarver. He passed from this life at age 88 at home, in Broken Arrow, Okla., on Saturday, July 6, 2024.
He graduated from Newport High School in 1954. After high school, he moved with his family to Mt. Carmel, Ill. He joined the Air Force on May 28, 1954, and served until Dec. 1, 1962. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, he returned to Illinois and enrolled at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. There, he met the love of his life, Maudie McKinney. They were married on Dec. 1, 1962, in Carbondale and were committed to and deeply in love with each other until her death on Sept. 9, 2005.
Shortly after graduation, he went to work for Mayflower Moving and Storage Company. He was highly respected and heavily recruited. He held many positions with many organizations under the Mayflower umbrella. His employment allowed him and his wife the opportunity to travel to many cities and states including Oklahoma City, Okla.; Memphis, Tenn.; Little Rock, Ark.; Tulsa, Okla.; and Aurora, Colo. In Oklahoma City, they welcomed their first child, a daughter, Mary Lynn, in 1963. In Little Rock, they welcomed their second child, a son, Dan, in 1973.
He loved life and lived his to the fullest. He was a people person, gregarious, friendly and always smiling. His outgoing personality led him to a second career in retirement. He was always on the go, whether it was with his work, many hobbies or family outings. He will be remembered with love.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Lynn Mueller and husband Jeff of Centralia, Okla.; a son, Dan of Broken Arrow; four grandchildren, Andy Hirschman, wife Melissa, Jacob Hirschman, wife Marti, Mason Sarver, wife Emily, and Nathan Sarver; four great-grandchildren, MaKenna, Josie, Aurora and Bruce Hirschman; a sister, Dixy Dixon of Tulsa, Okla.; and a multitude of extended family members and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie Sarver and Terry D. Sarver, and a sister, Patty L. Noble.
Interment was in McKinney Hill Cemetery, Carbondale.

DANIEL L. BAUGHMAN
Daniel Lee Baughman, 57, passed away Friday, July 12, 2024, at his home in Ickesburg.
He was born Nov. 29, 1966.
He attended Carlisle High School and loved Perry County, and working on cars. He lived life to the fullest.
Surviving are two children, Jacob Baughman of Shermans Dale and Mason Baughman of Littlestown; parents, Marlin and Mary (Baughman) Peffer of Carlisle; a brother, Todd Peffer; and two grandchildren, Roland and Oliver.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 10, in Buffalo/Saville Cemetery, Ickesburg.
